Major Depressive Disorder Treatment
Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a mental health condition characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and a lack of interest or pleasure in activities. It is more than just experiencing occasional sadness or low moods; MDD significantly impacts various aspects of a person’s life, including their emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and physical well-being.
People with Major Depressive Disorder often find it challenging to engage in daily activities, maintain relationships, and perform well at work or school. They may experience a range of symptoms that can vary in intensity and duration, including changes in appetite and weight, sleep disturbance, fatigue, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, trouble concentrating and making decision, and recurring thoughts of death or suicide.
At The Reeds Center, we utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) protocols and skills like behavioral activation and cognitive therapy to help people overcome their depression and regain a sense of well-being and functionality.
Treatment for Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar Disorder is characterized by extreme shifts in mood, energy levels, and activity levels. These shifts, or episodes, can range from periods of intense elation and elevated mood (mania or hypomania) to episodes of profound sadness and hopelessness (depression).
Bipolar Disorder can significantly impact various aspects of a person’s life, including their relationships, work or school performance, and overall well-being. Bipolar Disorder is a chronic condition that typically requires ongoing management and treatment.
At Reeds, we utilize CBT approaches, as well as other evidence-based modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), to create personalized treatment plans suited to the client to support their journey toward stability and well-being.
